Mulch can be applied at any time of the day or year, even decorative mulching can be done at any time. Mulching protects, for weed suppression and moisture retention, also is best done before the late springs growing season and the intense summer heat. A three-inch layer of mulch naturally prevents weeds by blocking growth and access to sunlight. Mulch is specifically formulated for use around flowers, shrubs and trees. Plant first, then mulch. It may be used in organic gardens. It should not be mixed directly into the planting hole. If planting is done before mulching, make sure to water the soil to give the plant a direct soaking drink.

12 Year Mesh Weed Barrier

Mesh weed barrier has a multi year easy to use, environmentally safe barrier. Its unique design provides several advantages over other thinner weed barrier products. It is fabricated using a spun-bond method, which sandwiches the material between two layers of spun material. This forms a powerful 3-ply layer of weed protection. Plus, the fabric's higher carbon black content provides superior light blocking capabilities to protect against the toughest perennial weeds. The design also prevents unraveling and makes the material easier to cut. In addition mesh weed barrier is hydrophilic treated, providing improved water and nutrient flow through the fabric. Mesh weed barrier comes in many widths and lengths. Since it is 3-ply layered, it has a extremely easy way to cut through the material for going over plants and bushes.

Drip Irrigation
Drip irrigation systems are the most efficient method of irrigating. While sprinkler systems are around 75-85% efficient, drip systems typically are 90% or higher. What that means is much less wasted water. A reason to use drip is the preferred method of irrigation in the desert regions of the United States. Nevertheless drip irrigation has other benefits which make it useful almost anywhere. It is easy to install, easy to design, can be very inexpensive just by saving water, and can reduce disease problems associated with high levels of moisture on some plants. If somebody wanted to grow a rain forest, drip irrigation would be the best choice. Thursday, March 25, 2010
Seeding a New Lawn

Starting a lawn from seed is the least expensive way to transform your home or garden with a new lawn. The best time to start lawns from seed is just prior to the grass's season of most vigorous growth. First, you need to determine the type of grass that grows best in your climate, whether you need cool-season or warm-season grass. Think of cool-season grass as a clay type soil and for warm-season grasses think of sandy soil. Majority of the Northeast is a cool type grass which has a great seeding time of late summer to early fall. No matter if the weather is hot or average temperatures a watering system must be in place for fullest effect. With spreading the seed to get an even coverage must be done very carefully so no area is missed. This is how to start a new lawn with proper techniques.

Fertilizer helps the yards

Have you ever seen a lawn that looked like it had different colored stripes? This was probably caused by spreading fertilizers the wrong way. To make sure that the color and growth of your plants are the same, fertilizers must be spread evenly. The most popular types of fertilizer spreaders are the drop spreader and the cyclone spreader. Cyclone spreaders generally provide the best results. Make sure when you spread the fertilizer that you overlap your spread pattern by Applying half the material in one direction and the remainder in the opposite direction. Break up any clumps so that the fertilizer won't get clogged in the spreader. Once the fertilizers are spread over the areas the grass will just take time then to change to a dark green.
